A 40 West Gallery Exhibition
KEY INFORMATION
· Submission Deadline: Sunday March 2nd, 2025 at midnight
· Artist Notification Date: Week of March 16th, 2025
· Art Drop-off Date: Wednesday April 2nd, 2025 between 1pm-3pm
· Art Hanging: Thursday April 3rd, 2025 at 1pm

CREATIVE BRIEF
Are you a 40 West Arts member? Show us your best work! The Member Showcase does not have a specific theme, it is your chance to exhibit whatever art you would like. Artists are highly encouraged to submit new work that has not been shown in 40 West Gallery before to keep our showcase fresh. All mediums considered. Our gallery has limited space for works greater than 36”, please keep that in consideration when you decide which pieces to submit.
SCREENING PROCESS
Submissions will be screened by a panel, including 40 West Arts curators and invited guest jurors, to ensure quality and applicability of work. Please note that depending on the number of submissions, our curation process, and other factors, not all submitted works are guaranteed entrance into our show. We will notify you within the timeframe indicated herein regarding the acceptance of your work(s).
Also note that while we strive to include works from as many artists as possible, please know that we do not tolerate submissions that promote hate, racism or violence against others. We reserve the right to refuse any submission that does not adhere to or promote our mission.
ELIGIBILITY
This exhibition is only open to 40 West Arts members, if you would like to become a member (dues are $40 a year), you can sign up at this link: membership. Artists may submit up to 4 pieces of artwork, but the number of pieces accepted into the show will depend on the number and dimensions of submissions. Our gallery has limited space for works greater than 36”, please keep that in consideration when you decide which pieces to submit.
All mediums are welcome. We are unable to accept mailed artwork, you must be able to drop off your artwork at 40 West Gallery.
GUIDELINES
40 West Arts members are invited to submit up to four hanging OR three 3-D works via email for consideration. 40 West Arts will retain a 15% commission on all works sold. It is the artist’s responsibility to collect and remit local and state sales taxes for any work sold. All artwork must be framed and ready to hang, preferably with a wire. We do not allow use of command strips in the 40 West Gallery. 40 West Arts reserves the right to reject any artwork not meeting these guidelines at any time. We will notify you within the timeframe indicated herein regarding the acceptance of your work(s).
HOW TO SUBMIT

Submission Instructions:
STEP 1: Fill out the April Member Showcase submission form. Every 40 West Arts Member is guaranteed at least one piece of artwork accepted into this show, size depending.
STEP 2: Email your artwork images to submissions@40westarts.org
Make sure the images are retitled as follows: your name_artwork title_artwork dimensions.jpg
OTHER IMPORTANT DATES
· Hanging: 40 West Gallery relies on volunteers to assist our tiny staff with transitioning exhibitions. We strive to have a small team of artists assist us in hanging the exhibit. No experience is needed, the process usually takes under two hours, and staff will be on hand to help. Hanging will occur on Thursday April 3rd, 2025 at 1pm.
· Art Pick Up: Art pickup is currently scheduled for the week of April 27th, exact date TBD (times will be confirmed approximately 10 days prior to art pickup). PLEASE NOTE: Once pickup times are confirmed, you MUST pick up your work(s) during those times, or make alternate arrangements prior to pickup day. We cannot hold works after the close of the show. If works remain in our gallery past the pick up date, we hold no liability on pieces. Artwork left longer than 30 days becomes the property of 40 West Arts.
