our partnerships make it happen

This program would not be possible without the support of Rocky Mountain College of Art + DesignMetro West Housing SolutionsLakewood-West Colfax Business Improvement District, and West Colfax Community Association.

The 40 West Artist in Residence program was launched in 2014 and is intended to serve as a powerful and catalytic initiative that will bring energy to the area, provide a differentiator for the organizations involved, and demonstrates to the community the ability for multiple organizations and agencies to collaborate on a common mission: to energize the corridor.

In addition to RMCAD's ongoing support, this is part of the 40 West Connects program! Funding is also provided by the Xcel Energy Foundation and Lakewood W. Colfax BID.

beginner-friendly programming

Courses and classes are geared toward beginners with the idea that creativity is an innate human trait. We welcome artists of all levels and believe that anyone can tap into their creative presence through learning and doing.

free and geared toward all ages

Most workshops are developed with the whole family in mind, to ensure that anyone who joins from the young to the young-at-heart can partake in the creative environment, learn a new artistic skill and just have fun.
