CREATIVE BRIEF
RGB and CMYK are big players in the world of color, particularly for printing and for digital display purposes.
RGB stands for Red, Green, Blue; the primary colors of light. These three colors are combined in various ways by adding light to create a broad spectrum of colors, think of pixels making up a screen. RGB is widely used in electronic displays such as computers, smartphones, tablets, tvs, and digital cameras.
CMYK is Cyan, Magenta, Yellow, and Key (key = black because ‘B’ was already taken by blue in RGB). These are colors used in physical printing, CMYK works by subtracting light absorbed by inks to achieve color.
40 West Gallery is looking for artworks related to RGB and CMYK in a variety of interpretations. Maybe you have a love of one or more of the colors, or you have a favorite color created by combining some of those color components. Maybe you are a printmaker or graphic designer. Maybe you are fascinated by the process of adding or subtracting light to create color. We are open to all color combinations and thoughtful approaches in using color
Artists of all levels of experience are encouraged to apply, all mediums considered. Artists with artwork requiring a digital display must provide the display.
