2019, A 40 West Arts 'Little Things' Year in Review

2019 was a great year for 40 West Arts District. Between multiple new galleries opening their doors and winning Westword Magazine’s ‘Best Arts District’, there’s a lot to celebrate. But in addition to all of the ‘big’ happenings, we’re also delighted by those tiny, funny, silly, smile-inducing little moments. Look below for 12 lighthearted things that happened in 2019.

These folks enticed you to come closer with a smile and the promise of a free necklace.

Thanks to our awesome volunteers for helping out at all of our events including our annual New Orleans Street Party.

This gal got her knife just a little too close.

Thank you Judy Cybuch for your amazing support over the years. You were a champion from the very beginning. We wish you all the best in your retirement. And many thanks to Kris Autobee (right) for picking up the torch at the shop and continuing to grow Red Herring Art as a vibrant creative destination.

These folks devised a new method for showing how much they liked the artwork.

People just love the art at NEXT Gallery, particularly the annual Casa Bonita show.

This beekeeper did a paint-by-number.

Thanks to internationally renowned muralist DAAS for your amazing artwork, titled Take Time, and located along the 40 West ArtLine.

This kiddo convinced Bill Marino to get on the swings!

We love our local parks and neighborhoods. Our work would not be possible without the support of the City of Lakewood and our neighborhood associations.

This guy was confident he had the most essential booth at the festival.

Thanks WestFax Brewing Company for being our resident watering hole and for your amazing support.

We love the creativity of our galleries including this large-scale installation by EDGE Gallery.
