LBGTQIA+ Variety Show

CREATIVE BRIEF:

Celebrate Pride with us at 40 West Arts! In addition to our CommUNITY exhibition, we will be having a variety show for LGBTQIA+ folks to participate in. All performance art considered. Is there a song, acoustic music, drag performance, skit, comedy, poem, spoken word, or talk on Queer history you’ve been meaning to find space for?

Each artist will have 5- 10 minutes to perform, artists of all levels of experience encouraged to participate.  Performance artists may and are encouraged to accept tips during your performance.

The LBGTQIA2SP+ Variety Show will be mc’d  by D Garrett, a Denver visual artist and muralist who uses acrylic paint as well as a variety of other media to create art on canvas, walls, sculptures, and more. D is involved with the 40 West Ambassador program, and is focused on building an artist network with direct engagement in the 40 West Arts community. D’s passion for community building, local art, LGBTQIA, and alternative spiritual communities mesh her love for art and unity in creative, inspirational ways.

SCREENING PROCESS

Submissions will be screened by a panel, including 40 West Arts staff and invited guest jurors. Please note that depending on the number of submissions, our curation process, and other factors, not all submitted performances are guaranteed entrance into our show. We will notify you within the timeframe indicated herein regarding the acceptance of your performance.

Also note that we do not tolerate submissions that promote hate, racism or violence against others. We reserve the right to refuse any submission that does not adhere to or promote our mission. We value your artistic expression, but please be aware that our space is multi-generational, family-friendly, and we have visitors from all walks of life.

ELIGIBILITY

This exhibition is open to all levels of experience. Both 40 West Arts members and non-members are invited to submit performances. We value your artistic expression, but please be aware that our space is multi-generational, family-friendly, and we have visitors from all walks of life.
